Arriving in town after a 2 hour drive from Tampa, our first goal after settling in was to get food and drink on Dock Street. We walked to the Tipsy Cow because it was one eatery we hadn't visited last time we were in Cedar Key. It's a steep climb up a flight of steps to a high pier, but once there, the view out over the gulf is splendid. This day, business up and down the street was slow because of the cloudy, slightly stormy weather, but that didn't dampen our eating experience here. Straightforward fare; I had a very meaty Philly Cheese steak and my wife had the Boy Blue burger. Both entrees were large, well cooked, and very satisfying. Drinks were cold and tasty; on the suggestion of our server, Melissa, I had a Pernicious IPA that's brewed in NC. It was a great suggestion. We ate out on the "porch" and enjoyed the gulf breeze and the slight threat of rain that kept the air cooler than we had felt for many weeks in Tampa. We had a really good time and would recommend The Tipsy Cow to anyone visiting Cedar Key.
