Hook, line and sinker... Living in a big city filled with constant tourism and traffic, evey year we decide to treat ourselves by picking a random place to visit on the map. Finding Cedar Key was a stroke of good luck and following the same, came availability for Pirates Cove. Not to mention we were able to bring our four legged skipper! The perfect island getaway without the need of air fare. As our excitement built, we had no idea of what was to come, but as tradition follows that was part of our adventure! As soon as we arrived to Pirates Cove, we were immediately greeted by two smiling faces, Brian and Lisa. Brian proceeded by giving us the tour of the land, if you will, also providing insightful places/spots to visit. We stayed in the famous cottage #5. Partook in the secret scavenger hunt (must stay in cottage #5 and read the guest book. Here's a clue, it's not under the bed.) and love every minute of our stay. This little island is filled with bountiful natural treasures. From feasting your eyes on the local art talents, museum hopping to bird sightings, wave watching and rainbow chasing. A rented golf cart to travel is not required, but is a quicker mode of transportation around the historic town. There is a couple  of "general stores" and more than enough restaurants to chose from. The town is also very pet friendly, so you don't even have to think twice about bringing your fur baby. Overall, if you are looking for salty air escape from the busy Florida beaches, location is just a Ce-dar Key away. It will reel you in.
