We stayed in Cottage 8, which sleeps 2. The cottages are well maintained and clean. We didn't use the kitchenette as we ate out while in Cedar Key. Cedar Key is still recovering after the hurricane last year, but there were enough shops and food for those who stayed. Pirates Cove is less that a half mile walk to the downtown area and the boat launch and pier. Unless you have mobility restrictions, it's an easy walk up and back. You can always rent a golf cart if needed. The owners, Brian and Lisa, were there to welcome each guest. Brian took the time to orient us on the downtown map, showing what was open and provided a little guidance to make the stay easy. In the room there was also a binder with local information as well as things you needed to know for the room. The website has photos of the room. I've only include sunrise over the channel at the back of the property. We stayed 2 nights, but this is a good place to set as a home base for nearby sites and boating tours. You could easily stay a week and leverage the grills or kitchenette if you want to do your own cooking part of the time.
